10 Best 5-Minute Meditations (That Are Actually Beginner-Friendly)

If you’re new to meditation, here’s what I want you to know first:

You’re not trying to clear your mind

You’re not trying to be perfect

You’re just practicing noticing…and coming back

I’ve got to be honest - I’ve been meditating for years, and I still don’t do it every single day. I still keep my meditations no longer than 10 minutes. And, for the most part, I still prefer to follow guided meditations.

I look forward to my meditations. The few moments of calm, silky, silence that I get all to myself. I know it sounds cheesy, but my meditation practice - no matter how short and infrequent - has become one of my simple pleasures in life. And for me, this works.

Adopting a meditation practice is a very personal thing, and everyone has to find what works for them. It’s easy to think meditation has to take a lot of time — or that you need to be calm and centered every minute of the day for it to count. But that’s not how this works. Instead, find a meditation routine that fits your real life, and let it grow from there.

Meditation doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t have to be long. And it definitely doesn’t require you to become a perfectly calm human overnight. Start small. Start messy. Start with five minutes. The goal isn’t perfection — it’s practice. And over time, those tiny pauses can add up in ways that genuinely shift how you move through your days.

If you’re new to meditation, think of this the same way you’d think about starting a workout routine — small, consistent effort wins. Five minutes a day adds up.
